Chicken Wings with Soy Sauce

orange divide

These baked chicken wings are actually fried first. Frying gives the flour coating a crispy texture. The addition of the cooking sauce brings lots of rich flavor and creates a nice glaze.

The soy sauce, sugar and vinegar combination is a great mix of tang and sweetness without being overpowering.

This chicken wing recipe is really easy to cook and makes a terrific finger food party appetizer or main dish.

Ingredients:
3 pounds chicken wings
1 egg, beaten
1 cup flour
butter or oil for frying

Dip wings in egg, then in flour. Fry in hot oil or butter until golden brown. Lay in a baking pan.

Sauce:
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons water
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Mix all sauce ingredients together and pour over fried chicken wings. Bake covered for 15 minutes, then uncovered for 30 minutes.

Cooking Tip

These chicken wings can be fried ahead of time then baked just before serving. Refrigerate them if it will be several hours or the next day before you serve them. They may not be as crisp, but they will be just as tasty.
