Fresh Strawberry Cake review

Regarding the Fresh Strawberry Cake recipe above,
I added an extra cup of fresh,ripe strawberries, and sprinkled the top of the cake with sugar before putting it in the oven.
It came out very nice, and was very tasty. Only the recipe didn't specify if the 'meringue' mixture (egg white beat with sugar first) was to be added to the second part of the cake recipe! So, I decided to add it, and I assumed it was correct. The cake overall was very good. Thanks.
