Gluten Free Slow Cooker Recipes from The Healthy Slow Cooker

Sharing is caring!

I really love the new cookbook The Healthy Slow Cooker: 135 Gluten-Free Recipes for Health and Wellness, from Judith Finlayson for a lot of reasons.

First of all, I have been a fan of Judith’s for many years. She creates great recipes that are delicious and easy to make with easy to follow directions.

Her new cookbook is simply fabulous. It’s perfect for those who need gluten free recipes, but I don’t and I still love it. Many of us want to include less wheat in our diets and these easy slow cooker recipes are a real help.

The cookbook has SO much health information. Judith has gone the extra mile to provide not only nutritional information for each recipe, but each recipe also has a section she calls “Natural Wonders”. This section contains all sorts of information about health and healthy eating. It may be a page of details about a particular ingredient in that recipe (onions, sorrel and coconut oil for example) or information about healthy diet, a balanced diet, sustainable farming and other important information for our health. So it’s not just a cookbook but a valuable health resource too. I find the book quite fascinating and informative and a real treasure.

Can’t forget the recipes in a cookbook though can we? This cookbook is filled with delicious and easy to make healthy gluten free crockpot recipes. Here are a few examples of the recipes you will find in the book:

  • Creamy Morning Millet With Apples
  • Breakfast Rice
  • Gingery Carrot Soup With Orange And Parsley

  • Two Bean Soup With Pistou
  • Indian Style Chicken With Pureed Spinach

I always like to hear what others say about a cookbook. Here is a review of Judith’s new cookbookThe Healthy Slow Cooker: 135 Gluten-Free Recipes for Health and Wellness:

Dad of Divas says:

“Judith Finlayson’s first 17 pages of this cookbook are worth reading. She has written excellent information concerning using a slow cooker and preparing the recipes included in this cookbook.

The book contains recipes from breakfast to desserts. Each recipe has not only the ingredients and excellent directions for the preparation, but also variations to the recipe and “mindful morsels” which is added information about the recipe/ingredients.

So many recipes sounded delicious. Making Cioppino in a slow cooker piqued my interest. Did you know you can poach salmon in a slow cooker? Pumpkin Rice Pudding sounds delicious too.

If you possess a slow cooker and want more recipes to use this time saving appliance, I believe you will find this cookbook one you will enjoy using.”

And here are some reviews of Judith’s other slow cooker cookbooks:

Kathy Martin in the Miami Herald:
[One of the top five of] the best of my nearly 20 slow-cooker books… an artful palate and healthful bias come together in recipes.

Sue Story Truax in the Omaha World-Herald:
“Information and recipes with high nutrition, reduced sodium and boosted fiber.”

Amy McConnell Schaarsmith in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
“One of my favorite slow-cooker cookbooks.”
