Are you kidding me? Losing 10lbs in one month is unsafe? Very well, then...
PS: Don't think of it as being on a diet because you will feel that it is not something permanent and you will feel safe putting it off and saying "I will start tomorrow...". It will also be harder to resist your cravings because you will get the feeling that it's something you HAVE to do. If you want to lose weight and be healthy at the same time, change your lifestyle.
Tell yourself that from now on, you choose to eat healthily without depriving yourself of pleasure from time to time. You don't have to do it so you won't feel like a failure eating a slice of cake, for example.
PS2: Eating 500 calories a day is not safe. I'm not talking about health, obviously, at least not about physical health. Been there, done that. After a while, 500 calories will feel like a binge and you can get to the point you will start eating 50. It's easy to fall into an eating disorder by crash dieting. (:
