The Complete Thyroid Health and Diet Guide

Sharing is caring!

The Complete Thyroid Health and Diet Guide: Understanding and Managing Thyroid Disease, by naturopath Doctor Nikolas Hedberg, is a fabulous book if you have ANY questions about thyroid disease.

Many people are surprised that they have a thyroid issue and it seems to be becoming more and more common.

The thyroid gland is part of the endocrine system, a complex signaling system that sends messages via the circulatory system to tissues and cells in your body. The endocrine system maintains homeostasis, or a state of balance, so that all of your organs and systems work at their best. It is important then to maintain a healthy thyroid gland.

If you have wondered…

How do I know if I have a thyroid disorder?

What health issues can it cause?

Can lifestyle and diet modifications affect my thyroid?

this book will answer all of these questions and more. It is a comprehensive study of thyroid disease written by a naturopathic physician who discovered that many of his patients were on thyroid medications from their medical doctors but were not feeling better.

Did you know that conventional medicine doesn’t address the cause of 90% of hypothyroid (underactive thyroid) cases?

Did you know that the TSH test is highly unreliable, yet many medical doctors base their entire diagnosis on it?

Did you know that your digestive system could be the key to a healthy thyroid?

Dr. Nik, as his patients call him, addresses all of these issues and more in this comprehensive guide to thyroid health issues.

If you have been wondering if health problems you are experiencing are connected with your thyroid, this book is a fabulous guide. Reading it can help you understand why you are feeling the way you are and how to work with your health care professionals to effect the best treatment. And that treatment can start in your kitchen by preparing thyroid healthy recipes and meals.

The Complete Thyroid Health and Diet Guide: Understanding and Managing Thyroid Disease was co-written by registered dietician Danielle Cook, so it also offers 150 wonderful recipes that are thyroid helpful. Some of the recipes I am trying for sure include:

I have had trouble my whole life finding the right guide to my thyroid problems … and found this definitive guide to be the most helpful book I have ever found ! It is full of many great recipes and diet recommendations … taking my plan of eating from “dull and boring” to both “nutritional and tasty” … such a great book, I keep it in my kitchen as a handy reference when preparing meals. You will be so happy with this book!

Dr.hedberg does a excellent job at explaining all the things that can go wrong with the thyroid. I really like how he incorporates a alkaline approach to the diet an his suggusted supplements .I always wanted to add in more alakine food. My diet already consists of lots of veggies an meat an low glycemic fruits. But I’m mostly paleo which is a lot of acidic food, so this is an excellent protocol to add to your diet. Im defininitly adding this in to my diet. I’m also going to purchase the therometer an test stips as well. The reason I only gave it four stars is the diet plan the plan is explained very well an the recipes look good but I’m not sure I can make most of them . There’s Some recipes using soy flour, peanuts nightshades, mushrooms dairy that I react to , So for folks that do not have any issues with these foods you Should be fine, for me I can try to take out some Ingredinets an make some adjustments but it may also take away the flavor of the recipe an the recipe just wouldn’t taste the same. I really don’t like to comprise taste . There’s a recipe for buttermilk buckwheat pancakes that sounds very yummy but I can’t use buttermilk I don’t see any alternative for non dairy milk. I also would like to know if there’s a sub for the soy flour in the other pancake recipe . Overall the recipes sound very tasty. I will be trying these recipes soon. I also like how She has little health enhancing tips through out the book. I would recommend this book to anyone whose having trouble with there thyroid.

Thyroid troubles???…A must read!
By shoppergirl

I started my thyroid medical nightmare by being referred to a Thyroid Specialist (western typical American MD) like many of us I came out with little medical options and usual treatment of T4 with synthroid – he upped my dose and sent me on my way with no education. This book is excellent in it provides information all thyroid patients need to know and alternatives to arm yourself with to speak with your MD about. Also provides information ON A NUMBER of foods, toxins, and things that negatively effect your thyroid functioning I recommend this to anyone with inactive Thyroid issues and recipes are good. Gave 4 stars as some info contradicts previously stated info based on your situation which can be confusing – but Very Very glad I purchased this book – most helpful thus far and armed and ready to speak to my MD on checking a number of other labs NOT just your T3 and T4 levels – all thyroid suffers should buy this book!!! I made some changes and have lost a few pounds already.
