2tablespoonsprepared horseradish, ( to 3 tablespoons)
1teaspoonWorcestershire sauce
1/2teaspoonsalt
3tablespoonslemon juice
1tablespoononion, finely grated (optional)
DashTabasco sauce, or any hot sauce, to your taste
1tablespoonvinegar
Instructions
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and chill until you are ready to serve the shrimp cocktail.
To serve, place the cocktail sauce in a serving bowl surrounded by the shrimp. Or place the sauce in a glass and place the shrimp around the rim.
Makes about 2 cups, or 8 to 10 servings.
Notes
This fabulous zesty sauce is also wonderful on lobster.Variation:Here is a sweeter variation of this shrimp cocktail sauce recipe:Omit the onion and Tabasco sauce. Add 1/2 cup of crushed pineapple and a bit of sugar (whatever amount suits your taste buds) and mix together for a sweet-and-sour shrimp sauce.
