This easy broccoli recipe is a nice change. The Chinese 5 spice seasoning really adds a different taste to broccoli and the mushrooms are a tasty and healthy addition.
Wash the broccoli and drain. Cut the stems into 1/4 inch slices and separate the tops into flowerets. Clean and slice the mushrooms.
Heat the oil in a skillet or wok. Add the broccoli and mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes, stirring now and then. Cut the onion in thin slices and toss with the broccoli. Sprinkle with soy sauce, spice and broth. Cover tightly and simmer 3-4 minutes, until the broccoli is crisp-tender, but still bright green. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and boil rapidly to evaporate most of the liquid.
